The Hawaiian Polynesian Revue<\/strong> will perform at Hazelwood’s Bluau this Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6-10 p.m.<\/p>\n The Polynesian islands will be brought to life at The Bluau, on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6-10 p.,m. at Howdershell Park, 6800 Howdershell Road,Hazelwood.\u00a0 Admission is free.<\/p>\n Sponsored by the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division, this event gives people of all ages an opportunity to celebrate good times in a great community as a final farewell to the summer of 2010. The term \u201cbluau\u201d is used to describe a Blues-themed luau.<\/p>\n The featured entertainment will be provided by the Hawaiian Polynesian Revue, a professional Hawaiian, Samoan, Tahitian and Maori native music and dance troupe with over 20 years of experience.\u00a0 Adorned in authentic costumes, they perform to \u201clive\u201d rhythmic drumming and music played by a two-piece band.\u00a0 They do everything from fun audience participation activities to amazing fire\/knife dances.<\/p>\n The Hawaiian Polynesian Revue has shared its island magic at local events as well as on the national stage.\u00a0 In addition to making an appearance at The Muny of St. Louis, the group has headlined many festivals, weddings, reunions, birthdays, fundraisers, cultural events and church socials.<\/p>\n The second half of the program will highlight a concert performance by the Baker-McClaren Band, representing the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of musical talent found in the St. Louis area.\u00a0 Band members consist of Max Baker (Guitar\/Vocals), Jim McClaren (Harmonica\/Vocals), Bill Murphy (Keyboards\/Bass\/Vocals), and Benet Schaeffer (Drums).\u00a0 The band\u2019s sound offers a mixture of blues and rock which can best be described as American Roadhouse.\u00a0 From swing to blues to hard driving rock, the band displays powerful solo performances and strong vocal harmonies.\u00a0 With a combined 120 years of professional experience, their credo is \u201cplay only music you love.\u201d<\/p>\n Boy Scout Troop 739 will be cooking barbecued hamburgers and hog dogs, with chips, soda and bottled water as a fundraiser.\u00a0 The Hazelwood Parks and Recreation will be providing the beer and Bluau\u2019s secret recipe drink to those of legal drinking age.\u00a0 However, no outside alcoholic beverages will be allowed on the premises.<\/p>\n With the addition of a new pavilion built at Howdershell Park, the main stage will be set up underneath it and tables\/chairs will be placed around the structure.\u00a0 Attendees are welcome to bring\u00a0 lawn chairs and blankets.<\/p>\n For more information, contact Darryl Miller of the Hazelwood Parks and Recreation Division at 839-5575.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Hawaiian Polynesian Revue will perform at Hazelwood’s Bluau this Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6-10 p.m. The Polynesian islands will be brought to life at The Bluau, on Saturday, Aug. 28 from 6-10 p.,m. at Howdershell Park, 6800 Howdershell Road,Hazelwood.\u00a0 Admission is free.
