Madison Dennis, a junior at Hazelwood West High School, is going to Camp Broadway: The Next Step\u2122 this summer in New York City to experience working with theatre and stage professionals.<\/p>\n
Dennis, who dances, acts and sings, was nominated for Camp Broadway by artistic directors at COCA, Center of Creative Arts, in University City. Her nomination led to an all-expenses paid opportunity. She is in her first year with COCAdance, an advanced level student dance company. She spends seven days a week at COCA learning jazz, modern and hip-hop dance.<\/p>\n
The news came as a surprise to Dennis. \u201cThey didn\u2019t tell me. I had no idea,\u201d she said excitedly. \u201cThis could be a good opportunity for networking.\u201d<\/p>\n
From July 12 -16, Dennis will \u201cwork with people on Broadway.\u201d Some of the experiences she is looking forward to include small group workshops, vocal coaching, choreography, scene studies and working with celebrities.<\/p>\n
She has been dancing since the age of 4, and has been involved in school theatre since ninth grade. She also does community theatre with the Hawthorne Players and the<\/p>\n
