How &#8217;bout Some Events Every Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>BY RANDY GARDNER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is hard to believe that an event as cool as the Olympics only happens every four \u00a0years. Now before you say anything, I know the summer and winter Olympics\u00a0alternate every two years but how cool would these be every year.<\/p>\n<p>I know it is\u00a0 unrealistic because of the enormous parameters of the event but look how it\u00a0 brings the world together for a couple of weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The best part for me was the \u00a0hockey finals, \u00a0and what a game on Sunday. This was one of the highest rated tv events ever. The\u00a0 dramatic finish in regulation as the U.S. scored with under 30 seconds left made\u00a0 me just about jump over the couch. Although the Canadians won the game it was\u00a0 worth all of the suspense in watching the game.<\/p>\n<p>I love the competition in every\u00a0 sport, especially skiing and believe it or not, I actually love to watch ice\u00a0 dancing, I am man enough to admit it. Now, even though I like the sport, I am\u00a0 not sure about those outfits they wear, especially the men. \u00a0That alone would\u00a0 keep me from participating in this sport.<\/p>\n<p>Overall though, I thought that it was\u00a0 nice that in the closing ceremoies that the Canadians were able to poke fun at\u00a0 themselves about the 4th leg not opening up at the opening ceremonies. That is\u00a0 what is wrong with people these days, they take themselves to seriously and\u00a0think that they are to cool for everyone else.<\/p>\n<p>Lighten up everybody, take things\u00a0 in stride, and if you live by the model that you are not as cool as you think\u00a0you are. You&#8217;ll \u00a0see things in a totally different light.<\/p>\n<p>Summer is knocking at the door right now and it is a great time to get out and\u00a0 start exercising if you haven\u2019t already, I know a lot of you are in the Lose to Win program and I hope all is going well with that. If you are trying to do it\u00a0 alone, so am I.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong>I am starting a 60-day program on Monday. My beginning weight is\u00a0 182, I will keep you up to date with my progress. Hopefully by doing this, I can\u00a0 get a few of you out there to join me and try to lose about 15 pounds. Just by\u00a0 losing a few pounds, I am hoping to kick my energy level up.<\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mark McGwire Now Mark Twain Highway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>What are your thoughts on the Mark McGwire highway getting its name changed to\u00a0 the Mark Twain highway? Watch, if the Cards win the World Series and it comes\u00a0down to an explosive year of hitting, with McGwire as the hitting coach, the\u00a0 sign could possibly be put back up.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what society is all about these days,\u00a0 what have you done for me lately.
