Education from University of Virginia (2005) and is also a graduate of the 221<sup>st<\/sup> Session of the FBI National Academy (2005).<\/p>\n<p>Jackson was a member of the St. Louis Police Department for over 30 years, most recently serving as the Commander of the St. Louis County Drug Task Force.\u00a0 Other experiences include SWAT team supervisor, airplane and helicopter instructor pilot, undercover detective and hostage negotiator.<\/p>\n<p>Jackson has assisted with the writing of several pieces of legislation as well as testifying before the House and Senate regarding these pieces.\u00a0 He has received numerous awards, including a Medal of Valor, St. Louis Police Department Meritorious Service Citation, and White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) recognition for Outstanding Task Force Commander (2003) and Distinguished Service Award (2007).<\/p>\n<p>As a long time resident of North County, Jackson served as a commissioner with the Municipal Parks Grant Commission from 2002-2009.\u00a0 He also served as the St. Louis Chapter legislative vice-president and State Leader of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation for several years.\u00a0 He and his wife Patricia reside in Hazelwood.\u00a0 They have three children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ferguson Chief of Police Tom Jackson The City of Ferguson has hired Tom Jackson as its new Police Chief.\u00a0 Jackson will begin his employment with the City on March 8.\u00a0 He replaces Tom Moonier, who retired.
