The event is free.\u00a0A live Eagle, several birds of prey and a naturalist from the World Bird Sanctuary will on on-site for a close-up view.<\/p>\n<p>Well known \u201cbirder,\u201d\u00a0 Kraig Paradise, will be available to help visitors view the majestic birds through telescopes, which will be provided.\u00a0 Hot chocolate, marshmallows and a warm fire will be free to visitors, located at the top of the Grand Staircase.\u00a0 Be sure to dress warm and bring binoculars.<\/p>\n<p>Fort Belle Fontaine Park offers a panoramic view of the Missouri River and overlooks the location where Lewis and Clark camped in 1804 and 1806.\u00a0 Look for eagles along the Missouri River from the Grand Staircase built by the Works Progress Administration (WPA) in the 1930\u2019s. Guided hikes on the three mile trail through prairie lands and the riverfront will be held at noon and 1 p.m. Visitors are encouraged to take this beautiful nature walk and view the park in its winter glory.<\/p>\n<p>Information will also be available on becoming a member of the Friends of Fort Belle Fontaine Park, which holds a 501(c)(3) status under St. Louis County\u2019s Historic Sites Commission.<\/p>\n<p>Friends of Fort Belle Fontaine are dedicated to preserving the park, improving facilities and introducing the park to many area residents who are not aware of the existence of this incredible historic and natural site.\u00a0 The park is located at 13002 Bellefontaine Road, 3 miles north of I-270 in Spanish Lake.<\/p>\n<p>***********<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eagle events in Alton and Grafton Illinois<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> Eagle Meet and Greet<\/strong> will be held at the Alton Visitors Center, 200 Piasa St. on Saturdays, Jan. 23 &amp; 30, from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. See live eagle demonstrations by the World Bird Sanctuary and a live bald eagle up close and personal. Ask and learn about their species and habitats. All programs will begin at the park&#8217;s visitor center at 8:30 a.m. Reservations are required. There will be a short video presentation followed by an observational drive to view the wintering bald eagles. Please dress warmly and have a full tank of gas.
