City of Bellefontaine Neighbors hosts\u00a0 <\/strong>Coats and Cops\u201d <\/strong><\/h1>\n

at Michelle Obama Early Childhood Academy <\/strong><\/h1>\n

The City of Bellefontaine Neighbors Parks and Recreation Department along with the Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Department held a \u201cCoats and Cops\u201d coat distribution event at Michelle Obama Early Childhood Academy on Wednesday, Nov.5, 2025.<\/p>\n

More than ever, families are struggling to afford necessities like food, housing, clothing and child care. The gift of a brand new coat offers hope to both children and their parents, reminding them that their community cares about their well-being and future. Bellefontaine Neighbors Police Chief Tim Sanders stated, \u201cWe want to do something positive and certainly build a bridge between law enforcement and our young people, they\u2019re 100% and future police officers might be sitting in here.\u201d<\/p>\n

The coat sponsor for the event was Operation Warm. Operation Warm is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing brand-new winter coats and essential clothing to underserved children, ensuring they stay warm and confident during the cold months.<\/p>\n

Director of Parks and Recreation, Marvin Crumer applied for a grant from Operation Warm and was awarded the coats. He stated, \u201cWe want to level the playing field by giving people in need the same resources and opportunities as others\u201d.<\/p>\n

A total of 375 coats were distributed to youth at Michelle Obama Early Childhood Center and also youth from Danforth Elementary School.<\/p>\n

The Bellefontaine Neighbors Parks and Recreation Department exists to enhance the quality of life of the citizens of the city. It maintains the eight parks as well as the recreation center and other public areas. In the recreation sphere, the department develops and offers programs, activities, special events and services that promote physical fitness, mental stimulation, socialization and a sense of pride in our community.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
