Happy new Year everyone. Man, am I looking forward to the new year 2010. There\u00a0 wasn’t as much to celebrate in 2009 in the world of sports. Locally, the Cardinals won their division, but quickly exited the playoffs. Hazelwood Central won their second straight state 6AS football championships<\/p>\n

But the St. Louis Rams\u00a0 wrap up one of the worst seasons as a NFL franchise. Looking\u00a0 back at the Rams over the past few years, you haven’t seen a win at the Dome\u2014\u00a0 this is almost embarrassing for the franchise. I think there are better times\u00a0 ahead though for the team as we enter the new decade. It can’t get any worse!<\/p>\n

Look back at the middle\u00a0and end of the last decade\u00a0of the 90s, the Rams were\u00a0horrible. The start of the\u00a0decade brought 2 Super Bowl\u00a0appearances. Can it happen\u00a0again,\u00a0 probably not for awhile\u00a0but remember the Rams get that first round draft choice.<\/p>\n

Many\u00a0 are saying go defensive tackle in the first round, 9the big stud from Nebraska), but\u00a0 I think you have to go\u00a0Quarterback. They might need someone to stop the scoring but if you never score\u00a0 like they did this season, the Rams will never win. It all starts at the QB position and\u00a0built outward towards the running backs and receivers.<\/p>\n

The game last Sunday, even\u00a0 though it was fan appreciation day, didn’t bring out many fans. Hopefully a few wins at the beginning of next year will change things. Maybe a strong off season\u00a0 of family friendly promotions will change things like the Blues did a few years\u00a0 ago.<\/p>\n

Realistically though, on any given Sunday there are only about 8,000 tickets for the walk up fans as the rest are season tickets. How do you get\u00a0 those people to come to the games. Look around the NFL and we can see teams that\u00a0were dynasties now being terrible and vice versa.\u00a0 It’s only a matter of time my again that\u00a0 the Dome will be packed and we will all\u00a0 love the Rams. We will forget about al of these hard times.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, I took my son to see the Harlem Globetrotters. I had never seen them before in person in my life. It was a pretty cool experience except for the fact\u00a0 that I remember when I was a kid that they never missed a shot, even the long\u00a0 ones from half court. That wasn’t the case on Sunday. It was definitely a show\u00a0 or the fans as they pulled kids out of the crowd to participate.<\/p>\n

It must be\u00a0 hard to be a Washington General player as they have lost every game for, what 30\u00a0 years. They must feel a little bit like the Rams do right about now. Its funny,\u00a0 whenever you see the red and white stripes or the stars you instantly thing of\u00a0 the Globetrotters.<\/p>\n

Of all of the presents my boys got for Christmas, the most comical has to be a\u00a0 play phone that my 18-month-old got that rings and talks to him. It says do you want\u00a0to go outside, he will sit for hours answering it and yelling back at the phone,\u00a0NO. Aren’t kids great. Enjoy the New Year and your family and friends.
