at Saint Louis Zoo <\/strong>WildCare Park in Spanish Lake <\/strong><\/h1>\n

WildCare Park, our safari park and conservation center under development in north St. Louis County, launched the park\u2019s first multispecies pasture in June.<\/p>\n

Many species will live side-by-side in expansive pastures at WildCare Park, much like they would in the wild. But creating such a large multispecies habitat doesn\u2019t happen overnight.<\/p>\n

The park\u2019s Animal Care team gradually introduced three species last month: banteng (a critically endangered wild cattle,) greater kudu (a large antelope) and scimitar-horned oryx (an antelope once considered extinct in the wild) into one 20-acre pasture.<\/p>\n

Keepers closely monitored the introductions to make sure all animals felt safe and comfortable as they acclimated to each other. The Wild Care Park reports that the herds have gotten along incredibly well and can often be seen grazing or resting peacefully together.<\/p>\n

Witnessing different species interact will be one of the most engaging parts of the WildCare Park experience when it opens to the public in 2027\u2014and this is just the beginning. They will introduce many species in the coming months as the herds grow.<\/p>\n
