You Lose.\u201d Campaign to stop people from driving impaired this Holiday season.\u00a0 Enforcements efforts will be increased December 7-13 and will focus on reducing deaths and serious injuries caused by impaired drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking someone\u2019s life due to making a poor decision during the Holiday season to drive while impaired is senseless and preventable.\u201d stated Florissant Chief, William Karabas.\u00a0 \u201cOur officer\u2019s will be cracking down on those impaired drivers in an effort to make our highways safer this Holiday season.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Consider some of the consequences if you are caught driving while intoxicated:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For      the 1<sup>st<\/sup> conviction (or 1<sup>st<\/sup> conviction in over five      years), your license will be suspended for 30 days followed by a 60-day      suspension if a hardship license is not obtained.<\/li>\n<li>A 2<sup>nd<\/sup> conviction results in a $1,000 fine, a yearlong revocation of your license      and up to a year in jail.\u00a0 You      will also be required to install an ignition interlock system on your      vehicle, preventing your car from starting when you have alcohol on your      breath.<\/li>\n<li>Third      and subsequent convictions can be penalized with up to a $5,000 fine, a      10-year license denial, and\/or up to seven years in jail.<\/li>\n<li>If      you cause a fatal crash while intoxicated you could be charged with      Involuntary Manslaughter, a felony resulting in up to seven years of jail      time, a $5,000 fine or both.<\/li>\n<li>Insurance      coverage will be difficult to find and if you do the rates will be      significantly higher.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For information on Missouri seatbelt usage, visit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.savemolives.com\/\">www.saveMOlives.com<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Florissant received a grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation\u2019s Highway Safety Division for participation in the \u201cYou Drink &amp; Drive.
