Mayor Timothy Lowery announced that on Saturday, June 8 the Veterans<\/p>\n
Coalition and the City of Florissant will host a Flag Retirement Ceremony to be<\/p>\n
held in the front of Florissant City Hall starting at 9 a.m.<\/p>\n
The event is open to the patriotic Florissant community to attend. Florissant American Legion, Florissant VFW and neighboring VFW posts in Overland and Woodson Terrace, Knights of Columbus as well as our Police andFire Departments will assist in mentoring our various area youth and Scouting Troops in the proper etiquette for our Nation\u2019s flag.<\/p>\n
The purpose of a flag retirement ceremony is to encourage proper respect for the Flag of theUnited States and to provide for disposal of unserviceable flags in a dignified manner inaccordance with U. S. Code.<\/p>\n
If anyone has a flag that should be retired, there is a flag retirement box that was donated by the American Legion Post 444 that is inside City Hall in the vestibule area by the rear entrance as well as a box at the VFW post on rue St. Francois<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
