\n\u00a0\u00a0 The annual run\/walk is Saturday,<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Is May 18 at Plaza at 501<\/em><\/strong><\/h1>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Late afternoon on Saturday, May 18, the intersection of Florissant Road and Suburban Avenue will transform from a community farmers market to the start and finish area of a community race. Runners and walkers anticipating personal bests, the American flag waving high above from a fire truck\u2019s ladder, the blare of a horn to signal \u201cGO!\u201d and the rush of hundreds of people moving toward a common goal \u2013 the finish line.<\/p>\n

2024 marks the fifteenth year of Ferguson Twilight Run with one-mile, 5K (3.1 miles) and 10K (6.2 miles) distances on USATF-certified routes by Big River Running Company<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea started with a simple question between friends, \u2018What would it look like if we held a run?\u2019\u201d said Dwayne T. James, race director and planning committee member.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt quickly grew to a viable plan because of the interest and excitement about bringing the community together with the healthy aspect of running and walking. The ripple effect and growth of that simple question still amazes me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the past 15 years, the Ferguson Twilight Run has created positive changes in our own lives and our overall community. Thousands of people have achieved personal goals of crossing the finish line, and more than $106,000 in proceeds have been donated to nonprofits that support healthy and active lifestyles in Ferguson and North St. Louis County.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe continuous support of neighbors, race participants, and volunteers have been the driving force behind the success of 15 years of Ferguson Twilight Run,\u201d continued Simons.<\/p>\n
