As part of its initiative to strengthen the region\u2019s local business districts and corridors of commerce, Greater St. Louis, Inc. visited Florissant, this week to hear directly from business owners and local leaders about how the regional initiative can provide support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe STL 2030 Jobs Plan<\/em> calls for the development of this initiative to strengthen and grow local centers of business across the metro,\u201d said Jason Hall, CEO of Greater St. Louis, Inc. \u201cRevitalizing and supporting these key business districts while maintaining the distinct character that makes them so special will help stabilize local communities, revive small businesses, and create new jobs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The STL 2030 Jobs Plan<\/em><\/a> noted that areas like Old Town Florissant are not just hubs of local business activity, but that in many local communities, they also act as centers of civic life.<\/p>\n

After touring businesses in Florissant \u2013 including Latte Lounge, Made. by Lia, Dooley\u2019s Florist and Gifts, and Handyman True Value Hardware \u2013 Hall, St. Louis County Executive Sam Page, St. Louis\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 County Councilwoman Shalonda Webb, Florissant Mayor Tim Lowery, and other leaders and business owners held a roundtable discussion at the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce to learn what is working and what challenges local businesses face.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate the leaders who came out today to share their thoughts with us about how to strengthen their community. It\u2019s great to see how people and businesses in Florissant support one another and the larger community,\u201d added Hall. \u201cWe\u2019d like to take some of what we learned today and use that knowledge to help other communities across the St. Louis metro.\u201d<\/p>\n

Greater St. Louis, Inc. wrapped up its yearlong, 15-county tour of the St. Louis metro, with trips to Jersey and Calhoun Counties in Illinois on Monday, and St. Louis County in Missouri on Tuesday \u2014 as part of its initiative to strengthen the region\u2019s local business districts and corridors of commerce.<\/p>\n

Throughout both days, Greater St. Louis, Inc. met with business owners and elected and local leaders about how its regional reach can provide support at the local level. As emphasized in the STL 2030 Jobs Plan<\/em>, areas like Old Town Florissant in St. Louis County and Grafton in Jersey County are not just hubs of local business activity, but like in many local communities, act as centers of civic life.<\/p>\n
