Aaron Frei of Emil Frei & Associates, Inc. gave a historical presentation about his family’s company that has been making stained glass and mosaics for five generations<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

\nNestled on the campus of McCluer High is one of the oldest homes in St. Louis County. The first section of Taille De Noyer was built as a fur trading post in 1790. Over years, the home was expanded into an antebellum home with stately pillars across the front veranda. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Florissant Valley Historical Society and grants and donations from several community partners, the house has been completely restored and preserved.<\/p>\n

The Florissant Valley Historical Society held a benefit dinner Sept\/ 24 at Catering to You to thank those who made the four-year $100,000 renovation possible.\u00a0 (see photos) Grants were received from the Daughters of the American Revolution; Florissant Rotary Club; and Americana Corner. Additional contributors included the Robert J. Trulsaske Jr. Family Foundation and the generous members of the Florissant Valley Historical Society.<\/p>\n

After a basket raffle, silent auction and delicious buffet dinner, guest speaker Aaron Frei of Emil Frei & Associates, Inc. gave a historical presentation about his family’s company that has been making stained glass and mosaics for five generations. Known as God’s Glassmaker, Emil Frei & Associates have not only made the stained glass windows for most of the churches in South St. Louis, but they have executed thousands of new creations across the country and all over the world.<\/p>\n

Taille De Noyer is one of Florissant’s hidden gems. Because it is located on McCluer’s campus, the Ferguson-Florissant School District has mandated that all freshmen students be given a tour of the house. Tours are available to the public on Sundays from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Group tours are available any time by appointment. The house is closed on Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Jan. 1 – March 31. Admission is $5. Children under 12 are $1 with an adult admission. For more information, call 314-839-3626.<\/p>\n
