\u00a0 The Late “Bud” and Bernice Foley honored with Walk of Fame Plaque<\/h1>\n

Family and friends gathered across the street from city hall on Wednesday, June 28 to unveilthe 52th Walk Through History plaque in honor of the late Harold and Bernice Foley. This plaque dedication had to be re-scheduled from last July. The plaque dedication took place before the start of the second Wednesday Night Out event.<\/p>\n

The Wednesday Night Out festivities honored the late Harold \u201cBud\u201d Foley and Bernice Foley. The dedication will be held directly across the street from city hall. This plaque dedication was a re-scheduled dedication from last year.<\/p>\n

Harold \u201cBud\u201d Foley was a labor leader and the state\u2019s most decorated veteran of World War II. He had received two Purple Hearts, two Bronze Starts, seven Battle Stars, three Presidential Citations and the Croix de Guerre from France.<\/p>\n

Bud, a labor leader, was president of the St. Louis Building and Construction Trades and business manager of the Pipefitters Union local 562.He had been a member of the plumbers & pipefitters union for 42 years, rising from a journeyman pipefitter to various offices within the union. Besides holding the position of business manager, he also had been a business agent and secretary-treasurer. Bud was known for his skill in getting labor and management to communicate with each other.<\/p>\n

Bud also served as a councilman from 1952 to 1957. Bud and his wife Bernice were very active for many years on the Florissant Township & Democratic Club.<\/p>\n

Bernice Foley supported FDR and every Democrat President, Missouri Governor and US Senator until she was almost 100. She supported local ballot issues for progress and Florissant area office holders including Mayors and Councilmembers.<\/p>\n

Bernice and her husband Bud were long-time Florissant residents and they were considered by many, political pioneers for Florissant progress.<\/p>\n

The next plaque dedication will be on Wednesday, July, 26 at 5:30 p.m. in front of 1080 rue St. Francois in honor of Frank and JoAnn Schuette before the start of the third Wednesday Night Out festivities.<\/p>\n
