{"id":2518,"date":"2009-10-22T13:26:03","date_gmt":"2009-10-22T19:26:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.flovalleynews.com\/?p=2518"},"modified":"2009-10-22T13:26:03","modified_gmt":"2009-10-22T19:26:03","slug":"hsd-teachers-walk-the-fashion-runway-with-jones-new-york-and-macys-galleria","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/flovalleynews.com\/?p=2518","title":{"rendered":"HSD Teachers Walk the  Fashion Runway With Jones New York  and Macy\u2019s Galleria"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HSD Teachers Walk the\u00a0 Fashion Runway\u00a0With Jones New York\u00a0 and Macy\u2019s Galleria<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Teachers from the Hazelwood School District were runway models in a Jones New York fashion show at Macy\u2019s St. Louis Galleria.<\/p>\n<p>Jones New York In The Classroom and Macy\u2019s are celebrating teachers with an afternoon of fashion, food and fun to kick off Shop for Education Week with a fashion show on Oct. 17 at Macy\u2019s St. Louis Galleria. Six teachers from the St. Louis area were chosen to participate in the event; three of the teachers are from the District.<\/p>\n<p>Teachers Megan Nims, kindergarten, Twillman Elementary; Jodi Douglas, communication skills, Hazelwood West High School; and Myronna Pryor, government and personal finance, Hazelwood East High School, will get makeovers and will model apparel from Jones New York. Ten percent of sales from Shop for Education Week purchases of Jones New York clothing will be donated to Jones New York In The Classroom, a non-profit organization supporting teachers and children\u2019s education.<\/p>\n<p>They were selected through a nomination process. The District nominated building Teacher of the Year winners from 2008-2009 and the nominees had to compete an application and send photographs to Jones New York In The Classroom.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone seems to share the same feelings about the experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am excited. It is something you think you will never get to do at 5\u20192\u201d or three months after having a baby,\u201d said Pryor.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am very excited for the opportunity,\u201d said Nims. \u201cI had heard it is so much fun.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny program that highlights the accomplishments and work of teachers is a positive,\u201d said Douglas.<\/p>\n<p>Neither of them has been in a fashion show before and they will each model four looks, from business casual to denim.<\/p>\n<p>When asked how this experience will translate into the classroom, Pryor said \u201cIt will show my students that I am serious about dressing professionally for work and it will let them find out that I really do have an exciting life outside of school.&#8221; Nims replied.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HSD Teachers Walk the\u00a0 Fashion Runway\u00a0With Jones New York\u00a0 and Macy\u2019s Galleria Teachers from the Hazelwood School District were runway models in a Jones New York fashion show at Macy\u2019s St. Louis Galleria.
