City Not Expecting Any <\/strong>Trouble<\/em><\/strong> with New Business<\/strong><\/h1>\n

The Florissant City Council met for the second November meeting Monday at City Hall and held one public hearing about a proposal to open a billiard parlor at 1165 N. Highway 67.\u00a0 Darryl Wallace, the owner of the business, spoke to the council about the business, called Behind the 8 Ball. This is the strip center near the intersection of St. Jean and Hwy 67. Wallace said he would like to serve beer and wine, but not hard liquor. \u201cIt\u2019s not a deal breaker for me,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Councilman Tom O\u2019Donnell said he had spoken to Wallace about the business. He asked Wallace to share more information. Wallace said he wanted to have several pool tables. He would also like to have leagues and encourage couples to play together. He said there is an active billiard community in the area, and he plays three or four times a week.<\/p>\n

The hours would be from 11 am to 11 pm. Wallace said he would like to have no age restriction, but if the council wants it to be 21 and up, he said he could do that. He plans on serving from a vending machine and perhaps pizza and nachos. He does not plan on having a kitchen.\u00a0 No one spoke against the business.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 In other matters<\/strong> , the council:<\/p>\n

  • Passed a bill amending the Municipal Code, by the adoption of a new entitled \u201cDepartment of Prosecuting Attorney\u201d.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill setting the professional services for the Provisional Judge and Public Defender for the city.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill setting the rates for professional services for the Prosecuting Attorney for the city.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill authorizing the Mayor of the city to enter into a contract with the law firm of Lewis Rice, LLC, represented by John M. Hessel and Jacqueline K. Graves for legal services for the city from Dec. 1, 2022 and ending on Nov. 30, 2024.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill to amend the code to adjust fees for the golf course facility.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill establishing a new compensation plan for part-time employees of the city.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill establishing a new compensation plan for seasonal employees of the city.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill which will establish the wage range and pay plan for unclassified employees.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill that amends the city code by adding certain job classifications.<\/li>\n
  • Passed a bill appropriating the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds for the 2022 fiscal year for the city.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The council voted to cancel the second council meeting. Thus Monday\u2019s meeting was the last one of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
