The Florissant City Council met for the second October meeting recently in council chambers and issued three proclamations at the meeting.
\nThe first declared the city a Purple Heart City.\u00a0 The second was for domestic violence awareness, and the third for Extra Mile Day.
\nThe council passed a bill authorizing an amendment to Special Use Permit 8751 to allow for an outdoor cooking area for Kingston 10 at 1157- 1159 N. Highway 67.
\nThe council discussed a request for a Full Liquor by the Drink license for Plush Lounge at 12667 New Halls Ferry Road. The request was postponed from a previous meeting.
\nCity Attorney John Hessel spoke to the council about the request. He said he recently became aware that the owner of the lounge has a new business partner. He learned this because the company filed new forms with the Missouri Secretary of State with the new partner.
\nThe partner is a convicted felon, and under Missouri law and Florissant law, a convicted felon cannot hold a liquor license. \u201cIt is my advice to you that you must deny this request for a liquor license,\u201d Hessel said. The council then voted to deny the request.
\nIn other matters, the council:<\/p>\n
* Approved a liquor license for 2.0 Restaurant at 462 N. Hwy 67
\n* Postponed voting on a request for a full liquor by the drink license for Plush Lounge at 12667 New Halls Ferry Road until the next October meeting.
