Information about flood assistance was on the agenda for the Florissant City Council meeting Monday, Aug. 22. The council heard a presentation from the Small Business Administration (SBA) about help available to businesses and homeowners. Corey Williams, public information officer for the SBA, spoke to the councilWilliams said that businesses, homeowners, renters, and non-profits can all receive help.<\/p>\n

He said the first step is to register with FEMA. He gave four ways to register: on line at Disasterassistance.gov, by phone (1-800- 624-3362), by the FEMA mobile app, and by visiting a disaster recovery center. The closest is the Hazelwood Civic Center, and it will be open through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Once someone registers with FEMA, Williams said, they may receive a referral to the SBA. He said homeowners my wonder why they are being referred to the SBA, but they offer disaster loans. He also cautioned businesses to be aware of economic injury. He said that sometimes businesses wait to apply because they don\u2019t notice a downturn in sales immediately.<\/p>\n

The council then held the regular meeting,<\/strong> with one public hearing and several bills.<\/p>\n

The public hearing was about a request for a sit-down, carry-out restaurant located at 462 N. Highway 67. This is in the shopping center at the corner of Washington St. and Lindbergh Blvd, in the same strip as Walgreens. restaurant. He said it would have chicken and waffles. Hours would be 11 a.m. to 12 midnight Tuesday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Dew said that flood waters had recently been up three feet inside the space, and they replaced an additional two feet of drywall. He said the electrical work is next.<\/p>\n

In other action, the council:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Postponed a bill that would authorizing the transfer of a special use permit from Shade Partners, to Shade Restaurant & Bar at 1752-1756 New Florissant Road.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a request for a full package liquor license for Bhagat JI, doing business as A1 Wind & Spirit at 8471 N. Lindbergh.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a request to transfer a special use permit from Zu Yang, doing business as Chin\u2019s Wok, to Sarah Zhang Enterprises, doing business as Chin\u2019s Wok for the operation of a restaurant at 70 A Grandview Plaza. The council also held a first reading on a bill that would authorize the transfer.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a request for a beer and wind liquor license for La Patisserie at 119 Flower Valley Shopping Center.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Held a first reading of a bill that would authorize a special use permit to Dalind J. Enterprises to allow for a car sales business at 1735 S. New Florissant Road.<\/p>\n

    • Held a first reading of a bill that would authorize a special use permit to Florissant IMG Pizza doing business as Imo\u2019s Pizza for a restaurant at 1725 Washingtion.<\/li>\n
    • Held a first reading of a bill establishing a grade and step schedule for full time uniformed employees\u2019 positions within the city.<\/li>\n
    • Passed a bill authorizing appropriations of $135,000 from the General Revenue Fund to various gasoline accounts due to increased fuel cost.<\/li>\n
    • Held a first reading on a bill that would establish salaries for the Mayor and City Council as of the election in April 2023.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
