The Florissant City Council met for the first April meeting recently. The council welcomed two new canines to the police force, held two public hearings,
\nThe council continued the first public hearing that was supposed to be about a new restaurant at 6b Grandview Plaza Shopping Center. Councilwoman Jackie Pagano said that she had not heard from the petitioner about the project.
\nCity Attorney John Hessel recommended that the council continue the hearing for a month, and let the business know that they must appear on May 9. The council voted to continue the hearing until May 9 and removed a bill that would approve the project from the agenda.
\nThe second public hearing was about a request to allow a building addition at Gary\u2019s Auto Service at 1779 N. Hwy 67. Michael Moehlenkamp, pwner spoke for the business. The business has a small metal building that he would like to expand. In addition, he would like to put in two more service bays.
\nNo one spoke in opposition to the project and the council held a first reading on the bill that would allow it.
\nIn other, matters, the council:
\n\u2022 Passed a bill allowing changes to the exterior material at Take Five Carwash at 2925 N Hwy. 67.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill that changes the changes the city code and deletes the Economic Development Commission.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill authorizing an appropriation of $65,000 for additional yearly expenses at the James J. Eagan Center.
\n\u2022 Approved a request to transfer a special use permit from Just 1 Taste Catering to Lee\u2019s Kitchen and Catering for the operation of a restaurant at 17 and 18 Patterson Plaza Shopping Center. The council also held a first reading on the bill that would allow the transfer.<\/p>\n
