Short Agenda For\u00a0 City Council; <\/strong><\/h1>\n

Time to Think About Veteran of the year<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n

\nThe Florissant City Council met Monday with a short agenda. There were no public hearings, but the council did pass some bills and hold first readings on other bills.
\nWalter Kaiser spoke to the council about the Veteran of the Year. \u201cIt\u2019s not too early to think about nominating a Veteran of the Year,\u201d he said. The veteran will be honored in November on Veterans\u2019 Day.
\nThere are three requirements for the honor. The individual must be a Florissant resident, they must be involved in the community, and they must be a veteran. There is no form, Kaiser said. Residents can just write a short note about why they think the individual is worthy of the award. They should not tell the veteran that he or she has been nominated.
\nNominations are due by Sept. 4 and can be dropped off at the Florissant Police Department or the VFW Post on rue St. Francois. They should be put in a sealed envelope marked Walter Kaiser of WK and dropped off at either location.
\nThe council passed four bills.
\nThe first bill passed approves the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) for the fiscal year 2021-2022 and the fiscal year 2021 annual Action Plan.
\nThe second bill passed approves the rezoning of 130 Howdershell to allow for the location of a utility substation.
\nThe third bill approves the changed in the recorded development plan to allow for exterior changes and signage at 3500 Patterson Road.
\nThe fourth bill authorized the mayor to enter into a program agreement for the federal funding for the improvement of rue St. Denis street phase II.
\nIn other action, the council:
\n\u2022 Held a first reading on a bill that would re-adopt a procedure to disclose potential conflict of \u2022 interest for certain officials.
\n\u2022 Held a first reading on a bill authorizing the city to enter into a lease purchase agreement to prepay outstanding lease obligations.
\n\u2022 Held a fits reading on a bill that would prohibit bars on windows of commercial establishments.
