The Florissant City Council met remotely last Monday night and had several items on the agenda, including two public hearings and several bills for first readings. The council also elected Councilman Keith Schildroth for a second term as council president and Joseph Eagan as council vice president.
\nThe first public hearing was about the fiscal year 2021-2025 Consolidated Plan and the Florissant Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).
\nThe city anticipates receiving $262,402 from the grant. In the proposed budget, $128, 922 will be used for Home Improvement Program, $60,000 on the Home Improvement Program \u2013 Mechanical, and $10,000 on Project IMPACT.
\nIn addition, $11,000 will be used on mortgage, rental and utility assistance. $52, 480 will be used for grant administration.
\nCitizens can comment on the proposed budget for 30 days.
\nNo citizens spoke at the hearing and the council held a first reading on a bill that would approve the project.
\nThe second public hearing was about a request to allow for the expansion of Clement Olympic Motors at 1760, 1780, and 1790 N. Hwy 67.
\nCharles Devore spoke on the project. Clement Olympic Motors is next to the lots in questions. The business owns the building and lot at the addresses listed. They would like to demolish the building and use the lots for a parking lot.<\/p>\n
The city\u2019s Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) approved the project.
\nCouncilman Patrick Mulcahy said he was concerned about the privacy of the police officers at the police station next door. He asked if the company would put in a privacy fence along the property line.
\nNo citizens spoke at the hearing and the council held a first reading on a bill that would approve the project.
\nIn other action, the council:
\n\u2022 Passed a bill authorizing the removal of siding at 2341 N. Highway 67. This is the
\n\u2022 Target store. The store wants to remove and replace some siding.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill allowing a walk-in cooler and bus parking at Mann Meats and 300 St. Ferdinand.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill allowing Bank of America to put an ATM in the parking lot at 48 Howdershell.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill authorizing a special use permit for Busloop Burgers at 2632 N. Hwy. 67.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill allowing a special use permit for Creations Smoothies at 147 Flower Valley Shopping Center.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill authorizing and amendment to city code to allow for signage during road projects.
\n\u2022 Passed a bill adding a two way stop at St. Michael at Aubuchon.
