Hazelwood and Ferguson-Florissant Districts<\/h1>\n

Begin Return to In-Person Classes<\/h1>\n

In-person classes returned for some elementary and primary schools in both the Hazelwood and Ferguson-Florissant Districts for the first time since March 2020. Hazelwood Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students returned March 29, while 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students started back this week, April 6-9.
\nHazelwood District middle and high school students will start April 12-16. All students are either 100% in-person or 100% virtual 5 days a week. No hybrid.
\nApproximately 6,200 Hazelwood students across all grade levels are set to return to in-person school. The district has a little more than 17,000 students.
\nMass COVID-19 vaccination events were held for school district employees over Spring Break (March 22-26).
\nThe Hazelwood School District has implemented CDC recommended mitigation strategies in district buildings, including hand sanitizing stations, plexiglass barriers on classroom desks, and a mask mandate.<\/p>\n

Ferguson-Florissant School District Students<\/strong>
\nSome students in the Ferguson-Florissant School District began transitioning back to in-person learning March 29-March 31. April 1 was a virtual learning day and Friday, April 2 was asynchronus learning (every Friday in this district is an asynchronus learning day). Ferguson-Florissant students and staff will be back in the building again on Monday, April 12, after this week’s Spring Break (April 5-9).\u00a0 The district offered parents the choice of a hybrid schedule or to remain 100% virtual. Students who chose the hybrid schedule go to the school building Mondays through Thursdays, and Fridays are asynchronus learning days. Teachers are teaching from their desks simultaneously to both virtual and in-person learners. The technology platfroms being used are the same as before: Canvas, SeeSaw, and Google, among other resources.
\nBelow are some of the precautions the district has taken to guard against COVID-19:
\n\u2022 Recesses are now staggered. Masks must still be worn.
\n\u2022 Individual playground equipment such as jumpropes etc. can be used, and some specific playground structures.
\n\u2022 Lunch is eaten within a classroom cohort, either in the classroom, cafe, or outside. Prepackaged foods are used as much as possible.
\n\u2022 HVAC systems now operate using filtered outdoor air while the air in the building is replaced every 15 minutes.<\/p>\n

Changes to Pick-Up Times for FFSD’s Free Grab & Go Meals<\/strong>
\nThe food delivery schedule has been revised for the remainder of the school year. Families will be provided five days’ worth of meals every Friday. The delivery day and locations will remain the same, and only the times have changed. The routes and changed times are listed on the FFSD website. Pick-up is for virtual learners only.
