For almost two decades (or is it more than that already?), the Dining Divas have been supporting local restaurants by meeting up each month for a girls outing and enjoying dinner together. For the past six months, the pandemic has limited how we see each other and has definitely impacted our dining options. Lately, we\u2019ve become the Patio Dining Divas, and it\u2019s been fun! But colder months are around the corner so I know it will be short-lived.
\nAs I write this today, I just heard that it\u2019s anticipated that possibly 50% of restaurants in St. Louis will not survive the winter months with the current capacity constraints. That makes me very sad. The Dining Divas have had so many great dining experiences, and St. Louis has so many great restaurants, many that have been around for generations. Wonderful family-owned eateries like Favazzas on the Hill, which we chose for our latest Dining Divas.
\nThe patio at Favazzas is amazing, and this night, it was packed. If you prefer to be in a lesser crowded area of the restaurant, sit inside. There\u2019s plenty of open space. I always love the Hill, and Favazzas patio does not disappoint. Plus, there is a good-sized parking lot off the street, and street parking is usually available too. So you don\u2019t have to worry about finding parking most times.
\nIf you\u2019ve been out to eat lately, you may have noticed that menu prices have increased. And Italian restaurants on the Hill are no exceptions. When I pick out what restaurant to go to, I always take pricing into consideration. And Favazzas has plenty to offer at all price ranges.
\nOur waitress had her hands full all night, but it was nice to see a \u201crunner\u201d refilling drinks, delivering bread, and keeping the growling stomachs at bay. I\u2019m certain it\u2019s difficult for restaurant owners these days to anticipate the crowds and to manage the number of staff needed. Seemed like Favazzas could have used a few more staff members this night. But that was okay because we had plenty of time to visit. And eat. And our food arrived hot.
\nWine was fabulous. Salads were fresh and flavorful. That night\u2019s special was delicious and even better as leftovers. Stuffed mushrooms were a little too salty. The pastas, as usual, were good choices as were the meatballs. But we don\u2019t focus on the food as much as we do the company. And we were in good company.
\nCar buying, traveling to Florida, and losing weight were the popular topics of the evening. We all had our own opinions and suggestions to offer about all three. And we also talked about one Diva that cancelled at the last minute only to find out that she needed surgery. So positive thoughts and prayers were shared.
\nI couldn\u2019t tell you if it was a full moon or not, but the actions of a couple Divas made me think that it possibly was. I remember thinking, you never know what\u2019s going on in another person\u2019s world. So just let it go. And as I\u2019ve heard often lately, in a world where you can be anything, be kind. And let\u2019s keep in mind that we are blessed. As we move into the non-patio season, we hope that these restaurants can continue to survive. The Dining Divas will continue to be supportive. And we\u2019ll continue to be hopeful.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
