Florissant Officers Cleared of any Wrong doing in June Incident<\/strong><\/h1>\n

Two Florissant Police officers that were passengers in the police vehicle driven by former officer Joshau Smith who has been charged with assault in the incident showing a man being hit by a vehicle and chased down.<\/p>\n

After an independent investigation by the St. Louis County Police Department, St. Charles County Prosecuting Attorney\u2019s Office as well as an internal investigation by the Florissant Police Department, it\u2019s been determined that these two officers were cleared of any wrong doing and they will not face any criminal charges or disciplinary actions. They are returning to work immediately.<\/p>\n

Since the police department was made aware of the video capturing the incident in June, Officer Smith was terminated June 10 and the other two officers in the vehicle were immediately placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation and per department policy.<\/p>\n

In the incident in June, it clearly shows in the video that both officers who were passengers in the police vehicle exited and ran in opposite directions of former officer Smith\u2019s actions. Our department has been very open and transparent since the video was seen. A Florissant Police spokesman said the department immediately turned over all of the information to independent investigators as it became available so that this incident can be investigated fair and impartially.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoving forward, I want to assure the residents of Florissant and communities all around the country that I have heard and listened to your concerns for justice in this case,\u201d said Police Chief Tim Fagan. \u201cThe Florissant Police Department will continue to be engaged in the community and will continue to provide the highest standards of police services that our great community has come to expect,\u201d Chief Fagan said in a press release.<\/p>\n
