\u00a0\u00a0 \"\"<\/strong>The board of directors of North County Incorporated (NCI), a regional development association, elected Dr. Elizabeth Gassel-Perkins, the campus president and chief academic officer for St. Louis Community College at Florissant Valley, as its board chair for 2020. Perkins has served on the board since 2016. She succeeds Rick Stevens, president of Christian Hospital, who has served on the NCI board for 3 years.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\u201cAs someone who was born in, lives in, and works in North County, there are few things that give me as much pride as serving as chair of North County, Inc.,\u201d said Dr. Perkins. \u201cWe have crucial work to be done this year, including supporting the 2020 Census, continuing our work around equity, and sharing stories about people, places, and progress with the True North campaign. I’m excited to work with my colleagues on the board of directors and the incomparable NCI staff to reach each of our goals to support the needs and development of North St. Louis County.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Perkins joined STLCC as provost of the Florissant Valley campus in August 2016 and served in that role until the title of provost was changed to campus president and chief academic officer in January 2019. In addition to her role as campus president, she serves as the administrator for the College\u2019s dual credit, dual enrollment and early college partnerships.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are extremely pleased to have Dr. Perkins, outstanding educator and community leader, serve as our board chair,\u201d said Stevens, former NCI chairman. \u201cElizabeth will effectively guide and ensure the continued economic development advocacy work NCI does for the North County community.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Perkins was recognized by North County Churches Uniting for Racial Harmony and Justice (NCCU) in 2019. Dr. Perkins is also a board member of the Greater North County Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n
