20-Minute Florissant <\/strong>Council Meeting had<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

Several Bills Read, <\/strong>Building Code Passed<\/strong><\/span><\/h1>\n

The first meeting of the year was a short one for the Florissant City Council, clocking in at approximately 20 minutes. There were no citizens there to speak last Monday night, no communications, and no public hearings. This is traditionally a slow time of year for development.<\/p>\n

The council did have three bills on the agenda for a second reading, two requests, and one bill for a first reading.<\/p>\n

The first bill for a second reading died for failure for a motion for a second. This bill would have directed the submission of a ballot proposition to consider imposing a Local Use Tax for purchased from out-of-state vendors that exceed $2,000<\/p>\n

The second bill for a second reading passed. This bill will change the building code.<\/p>\n

The third bill also passed. This bill also changes the city code to provide consistency between code sections that deal with portable outdoor storage containers.<\/p>\n

The council held a first reading on a bill that would adjust fees for the golf course.<\/p>\n

The council also approved two requests. They approved a request for a full package liquor license for Dunn Mart at 1395 Dunn Road.<\/p>\n

The council also approved a request by Patrick McCullisan to keep four chickens at his property on Charbonier Road.<\/p>\n

During council announcements, Council President Jeff Caputa urged residents to lock their cars and not start them in the morning to warm up. He said all recently stolen cars except one in the city were running in the owners\u2019 driveways.<\/p>\n

Mayor Timothy Lowery said there were four cars reported stolen on the morning of the council meeting, and all were running in the owner\u2019 \u2018driveway. He also asked residents not to leave running cars unattended.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
