Lack Of Public Hearing <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

   The Florissant City\nCouncil held a short council meeting Monday night. But the bad weather outside\nwas not the reason for the short meeting; a short agenda and postponement of a\npublic hearing was the reason.   The\ncouncil postponed a public hearing regarding a request to amend the zoning code\nto add signage regulations to restrict Short Term Loan Establishments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The postponement was due\nto the fact that City Attorney John Hessel was unable to attend the meeting due\nto a scheduling conflict. Hessel was due to speak to the council about the\nproposed change.   The council also\npassed some bills that were on the agenda for second readings. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They passed two bills\nregarding restaurants. The first was a bill that will authorize a special use\npermit for Cajun Crab, a restaurant at 630 N. Highway 67, in the Florissant\nMeadows Shopping Center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The second bill\nregarding a restaurant approved a transfer of a special use permit from Twinkle\nEnterprises to Dan Asewe for the operation of the Subway restaurant at 62\nGrandview Plaza Shopping Center. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   The council also passed\ntwo bills about the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). The first\napproves the action plan for the grant and the second appropriates the funds\nfrom the grant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The council also passed\na bill that moves money in city accounts to pay for additional street signage\nand another bill that adds and deletes certain job classifications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The council also held a\nfirst reading on the bill that will approve the budget for fiscal year 2020.\nThe city\u2019s fiscal year runs from Dec. 1 to Nov. 30. Mayor Tim Lowery had\nsubmitted a $37 million budget. The council also held a first reading on a bill\nauthorizing the mayor to enter into an agreement with City Attorney John\nHessel\u2019s law firm for his services. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u00a0\u00a0 The council voted to cancel the second meeting in December that was scheduled for Dec. 23, due to the Christmas holiday. The council had canceled this meeting for the last several years.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
