The Hazelwood School\nDistrict (HSD) is celebrating its 70th anniversary and will induct nine\nhonorees into the HSD Hall of Fame in December. The District will host the 70th\nAnniversary Hall of Fame Awards Gala and Dance on Saturday, Dec. 14 at the\nRenaissance Hotel to celebrate the anniversary and Hall of Fame class. The\nHazelwood School District was founded on Dec. 10, 1949; since then, countless\nindividuals and organizations have contributed to the district\u2019s success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Hall of Fame class\nwill honor several alumni, community members, and community partners who have\nmade a positive impact on the district and in their field:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individual Alumni Athletic Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Carey Davis,\nHazelwood Central High School Class of 1999, member of Super Bowl XLIII winning\nPittsburgh Steelers, current head football coach at Central High School<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Alumni Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– 1995 Hazelwood East\nHigh School Football Team, Missouri Class 5A State Champions<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Individual Alumni Award<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Missouri State\nSenator Brian Williams, Hazelwood Central High School Class of 2001, Missouri\nState Senate District 14<\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Charles \u201cEd\u201d Brown\nand Dan Brown, Hazelwood East High School Class of 1977 and 1980, respectively,\nBrown & Brown Attorneys at Law<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distinguished Retired Educator Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

-Dr. Chris (Wright)\nNicastro, former HSD Superintendent and retired Missouri DESE Commissioner of\nEducation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lifetime Humanitarian Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Ann Gibbons, former\nHSD Board of Education Director and 40-year District volunteer<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Partnership Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Hazelwood PTA\nCouncil, for raising almost $3.5 million in student scholarships, impacting\nmore than 3,500 students<\/p>\n\n\n\n

— Ameren, for a long\nhistory of community partnership, scholarships, and offering utility assistance\nto District families in need<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Superintendent\u2019s Hall of Fame Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

– Lottie Wade serves on the Board of Directors for Spanish Lake Community Association and a longtime volunteer and advocate for HSD<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The District invites\nalumni, staff, and community members to the Hall of Fame Gala on Dec. 14. All\nproceeds from the event will benefit student scholarships.
