Just Italian on the Hill!<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It was a breezy fall\nevening when the Dining Divas last met up. And this time, we were especially\nexcited to head to the historic neighborhood of the Hill for some good food.\nTypically, you think Italian when you think of the Hill. But with this\nrestaurant, you think meat! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We dined at Carnivore\nSTL, an American AND Italian restaurant that specializes in steaks. It\u2019s\nespecially nice when a restaurant has a parking lot, and even though it wasn\u2019t\nbig, it\u2019s appreciated. And fortunately, there was street parking available too\nthis night. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also appreciated\nthat the space of the restaurant itself was nice and big and that we could\nactually hear each other talk. You would have thought we hadn\u2019t eaten for days\nwhen we got there. Everyone hadn\u2019t even arrived, yet we still started ordering\nappetizers… It seemed like every appetizer on the menu. When Arancini is a\nchoice, the Picky Diva orders it, and Carnivore\u2019s was really good. Plus, the\nSpicy Cheese Balls, Toasted Ravioli, and Bruschetta! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Before dinner, we\ncaught up with the Educator Diva whose class this year is tough for her. We\nwere glad to see her as she hasn\u2019t been able to join us often lately. We talked\nabout an upcoming trip to Gulf Shores for the Traveling Diva and secretly spoke\nabout a \u201cspecial\u201d birthday upcoming for another Diva. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

And at a very somber\ntime for me, the Divas were extremely comforting as I shared the details of a\nrecent surgery I underwent, as well as the passing of my dad. And that got us\ntalking about \u201csigns\u201d from our loved ones who have died. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Italian Divas shared the story of how their sibling had recently traveled to New York City. While in a cab, she was telling some people with her about going to New York as a young child with her now-deceased father. As she spoke to them about him, she noticed the license plates on a car next to them. It said \u201cSanto.\u201d That was her dad\u2019s middle name. I\u2019m hopeful for signs too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though we\u2019d eaten\nso many appetizers and bread, we still ordered dinner but did take most of it\nhome. The Chicken Limon and a Caesar salad was excellent. The Sirloin Steak was\ncooked to perfection and seasoned well. The Chicken Risotto was better the\nsecond day according to the Picky Diva, and the Ginger Diva couldn\u2019t tell if\nher risotto was better the next day as her husband got to it before she did.\nThe Chicken Parmesan and asparagus was another good choice. And the portions\nwere generous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for\na good burger, try the Carnivore burger. Delish! Our very attentive waitress\nhappily delivered us all plates for a delicious birthday cake from Helfer\u2019s\ncourtesy of the Divas. So, I\u2019m not sure what Carnivore had to offer for dessert\nbecause we couldn\u2019t pass up a piece of cake from Helfer\u2019s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To finish off the\nwonderful night of reconnecting, sharing, and laughing, a few of the Divas\nheaded down the street to check out Piazza Imo\u2019s. If you haven\u2019t done that yet,\nyou should. The beautiful fountain, statues, grotto, and gardens give St.\nLouisans another reason to head to the Hill, as if we needed another reason.\nIt\u2019s always a good time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
