Bouwman has been\nnamed 2019 Veteran of the Year for the City of Florissant. Bouwman moved to\nFlorissant in 1989 and was an Eagle Scout from Troop 739 from Russell School.\nHe graduated from Hazelwood West in 1992.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bourwman entered the Army on active duty in January 1994 and was stationed at Ft. Campbell Ky. (101st Airborne) as an Infantryman with the 327th Infantry Regiment. He completed Air Assault School, Jungle Warfare School in Ft. Sherman, Panama, and received the Expert Infantryman Badge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He served in the Army Reserve\/National Guard in 1997 as a military police officer.\u00a0 He ended his military service in the Reserves in 2010.\u00a0 He had served as a drill instructor with the 95th Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was deployed in\n2007 to Operation Enduring Freedom (Afghanistan). He was a squad leader and\nconvoy commander with 200+ Combat Missions and received numerous awards, which\ninclude a Combat Action Badge and Army Commendation Medals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bourwman was hired by\nSt. Louis County Police Department in December of 1999 and has 20 years of\nservice. He was a patrolman in North and South County Precincts for 13 Years,\nand a detective with Bureau of Narcotics attached to the DEA for 4 years.\nCurrently, he\u2019s an investigator with St. Louis County Special Response Unit and\nmember of the Crisis Negotiation Team.
