The Board of Freeholders<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

St. Louis County\nExecutive Sam Page announced Tuesday his appointments to the Board of\nFreeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   The Board of Freeholders will consider\nchanging the structure of local government and may identify potential areas in\nwhich St. Louis County and the City of St. Louis could collaborate. Any\nproposal requiring a change in government structure that emerges from the board\nwill require the approval of voters in both the County and the City.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointees are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Cheryl Milton Roberts<\/strong> is the Senior Equal\nOpportunity and Diversity Practitioner at the Missouri Department of\nTransportation. Cheryl previously served in organizational development and\ntraining roles at Energizer Holdings, Inc., American Water, and The May Department\nStores Company. She serves on the Board of Trustees of John Burroughs School\nand the advisory board of We Stories. She is a Democrat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 John Nation<\/strong>s is a Member and\nChair of the Business Services Group at Evans and Dixon, L.L.C. John served\nthree terms as Mayor of Chesterfield and served as President and Chief\nExecutive Officer of Bi-State Development for eight years. He is a graduate of\nUniversity of Missouri\u2013St. Louis and received a law degree from St. Louis\nUniversity. He is a Republican.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Dee Joyner<\/strong> is the Director of\nResilient Communities at the Adrian Dominican Sisters and previously was Senior\nVice President of Commerce Bank. Dee also previously served as Chief of Staff\nto former St. Louis County Executive H.C. Milford, the Economic Council\u2019s\nExecutive Director, the County\u2019s Planning Director. She is a graduate of\nSouthern Illinois University Edwardsville and received an MBA from St. Louis\nUniversity. She is an Independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Mark Mantovan<\/strong>i was the Chairman,\nPresident, and Chief Executive Officer of Ansira. Mark was a Fellow in the\nAdvanced Leadership Initiative at Harvard University, and is a graduate of\nQuincy University, received an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, and\nreceived a law degree from University of Missouri\u2013Columbia. He is a Democrat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Carol  Stroker<\/strong> is a member of the Hazelwood City Council.\nCarol previously served in the Missouri House of Representatives, as\nLegislative Liaison Program Coordinator for theMissouri Department of Mental\nHealth, and on the Hazelwood School Board. She attended St. Louis Community\nCollege\u2013Florissant Valley. She is a Democrat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022Jason Wilson<\/strong> is the Chief\nExecutive Officer of Northwest Coffee Roasting Company and a member of the\nClayton Board of Education. Jason is a graduate of Texas Southern University\nand received an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He is a Democrat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Katy Forand<\/strong> is President of the\nBoard of Directors of the Lemay Child and Family Center and works for Berkshire\nHathaway Home Services Advantage Realtors. Katy previously served as Director\nof Outreach for Governor Matt Blunt and as President of St. Louis Young\nRepublicans. She founded the Grantwood Village Preservation Society. She is a\ngraduate of Fontbonne University and received a graduate degree in Legal\nStudies from Washington University School of Law. She is a Republican.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Fred Searcy<\/strong> is a Trustee of Mt.\nHerald Missionary Baptist Church and Director of Minority Recruitment of\nPlumbers & Pipefitters Local 562. Fred is a member of the St. Louis County\nWorkforce Development Board, President of the North County Legislative Labor\nClub, and a member of the St. Louis Construction Consumers Council\u2019s Diversity\nBoard. He is a Democrat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Alex Garza <\/strong>is Chief Medical\nOfficer at SSM Health. Alex previously served as Associate Dean and Professor\nat St. Louis University College of Public Health and Social Justice, as\nAssistant Secretary and Chief Medical Officer of the United States Department\nof Homeland Security, and as a Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves. A veteran of\nOperation Iraqi Freedom, he received the Bronze Star and the Combat Action\nBadge. He is a graduate of University of Missouri\u2013Kansas City, has a graduate\ndegree in public health from St. Louis University, and a medical degree from\nUniversity of Missouri\u2013Columbia. He is an Independent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAs we face the future, every part of our community must be heard.\nThis talented group will bring different perspectives, life experiences, and\nprofessional expertise to the table,\u201d County Executive Page said. \u201cI am\nconfident they are committed to a fair process that empowers the board to think\ncreatively, to listen carefully, and to identify solutions we can all get\nbehind.\u201d\n\nUnder the state constitution, the County Council must confirm\nappointments to the board within 30 days after the petitions were certified.\nThe petitions were certified on Sept. 23, resulting in an Oct. 23 deadline.
