Are We Just Living in a Crazy World Now? <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

   In a perfect world, everyone would get\nalong. There would be no war, no sickness, and no strife. Smiles everywhere,\nhappiness, peaceful co-existence. So good old Adam and Eve gummed that one up a\nlong time ago. They were both at fault, of course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    All that fruit and Eve picks an apple from\nthe one tree God says to leave alone. All them other trees, Eve! As one of our\nyoungest grandchildren used to say\u2026 \u201care you tiddin me?\u201d Adam was no better.\n\u201cUh, sure, I\u2019ll take a bite, honey. Where\u2019d you say you got this? Dierbergs?\nAldi\u2019s? Pretty juicy. Oh, wait\u2026 not that tree? Yeah, I know I forgot to get\napples the other day. So what\u2019s for dinner?\u201d And so they went on to blow it for\nus all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Long-winded introduction to this week\u2019s\nstory. A good writer gets to the point in the first two sentences. Sorry. My\npoint being, doesn\u2019t it seem like we are living in a particularly tumultuous\ntime? Especially in our country. Regardless of your political affiliation, or\nlack thereof, flux is a daily occurrence. Seems like everyone who proposes to\nbe our leaders are spending a lot of time \nand therefore a lot of tax-payer money on salaries and investigations\nand hearings and travel and copy-machine costs and staff expenses.  Well, you get the idea: playing the blame\ngame of \u2018you\u2019re a liar\/no you\u2019re a liar\u2019, and almost no time trying to make our\nworld a better place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   Think of it. How much time and treasure is\nbeing wasted in this endeavor?All coming at a cost to all of us as citizens.\nAffordable health care, real border security, infrastructure improvements,\nfunding to find cures to things like diabetes, cancer, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson\u2019s\nDisease, Alzheimer\u2019s\u2026 all taking a backseat to the silliness of our           politicians so intent on warrin with\neach other. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    It makes me so ticked off to know that we\ncan do so little about it as well. Sure, we can vote these millionaire politicians\nout (and I mean they almost all are in this category, at least after a few\nterms\u2026 go in as regular folks and come out with bank accounts bursting). But\nwith no term limits on the guys and gals in the federal positions, this is hard\nto do. Not impossible, but very hard to get them out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    And even if that happens, the replacements\nare not much better. Too often, it seems, elections have become a \u201chold your\nnose and vote\u201d proposition. The choices are just so full of contradictions and\nhot air that one is tempted not to even bother to cast a ballot. Still, that is\nthe one thing we as simple citizens have that they all want. Despite all the\ndark money, all the questionable fundraising, all the backslapping and\nglad-handing and coming-out-rich schemes, those in the offices of our\ngovernment can\u2019t really do anything, good or bad, without us voting for them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

   We have about a year until the next big\nnational election. It will not be pretty. It will be a time of imperfections\nand chaos and crazy goings-on, guaranteed. I hope to not get too caught up in\nall the insanity. It won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
