Trinity 5-Peats AAA D-2 Football, Lutheran North Seeks Metro 3-Peat <\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

     There are three weekends of High School\nFootball left but Trinity Catholic completes a four-game sweep of Archdiocesan\nAthletic Association Division II opponents, to win their fifth straight\nconference championship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Trinity is on a 21-game winning streak of\nAAA rivals in all divisions. The Titans\u2019 last loss to an AAA opponent was on\nOct. 23, 2015, a 28-27 Class Two, District Five home loss to Lutheran St.\nCharles County. The 4-2 Titans completed their 4-0 run in AAA D-II games Oct. 4\nwith a 34-14 home win over Lutheran St. Charles County.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

     Trinity took a 20-0 lead nine seconds into\nthe second quarter but after the Cougars cut the Titan lead to 20-14 at\nhalftime the Titans scored 14 unanswered second half points. It was the Cougars\nfirst loss of the season (2-1 AAA D-II, 5-1 overall). Senior James Frenchie\nscored a touchdown three different ways (receiving, rushing and a kickoff\nreturn to start the second half) while freshman Chris Cotton competed six of 14\npasses for 109 yards and a second quarter touchdown (to Frenchie).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    On Sept. 27, Trinity gets a 48-0 shut out\nof 1-2, 4-2 Duchesne, in St. Charles. Trinity did the damage in the first half\nby scoring 40 unanswered points, 32 in the first quarter. Cotton completed\nseven of 12 passes for 103 yards and a pair of first quarter touchdowns to\nFrenchie, who also ran for another. Junior Thomas Mimes ran for two more\ntouchdowns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trinity outscored AAA\nD-II teams 208-20, of which 118-14 took place under interim coach John Randle,\nwho took over Sept 19 from Terrance Curry, let go Sept. 28. Saturday, Sept. 12,\nthe Titans ply Clyde C. Miller Career Academy in a 1 p.m. game at Gateway STEM.\nTrinity plays their final game before districts, after a bye week, Oct 18, 7\np.m. at home against Class Six St. Louis University High.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   LUTHERAN NORTH<\/strong> is seeking their\nthird straight outright Metro League title and the Crusaders (3-0 Metro, 4-1\noverall) can do so with a win Thursday, Oct. 10, 3:45 at John Burroughs (2-2,\n4-2) or a loss by St. Louis Priory (2-1, 5-1) Friday, Oct. 11, 7 p.m. at Lutheran\nSouth (0-4, 0-6). Lutheran North and Priory do not meet this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lutheran North is\nsteamrolling over the Metro League by a 214-36 margin in 3 games. In a 90-8\nhome demolition Sept. 27 over Lutheran South, in which North led 71-8 at\nhalftime, seniors Jalen Head, Rutledge and Jordan Smith and sophomores Ali\nWells and Caldra Williford each scored two touchdowns while sophomore Brian\nBrown tossed two touchdown passes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    In another home demolition, 61-14 Oct. 4\nover Mary Institute Country Day School (2-2, 4-2),, which the Crusaders led\n42-14 at halftime Brian Brown, who rushed 13 times for 145 yards and a\nthird-quarter touchdown, competed 10 of 13 passes for 246 yards and four\ntouchdowns, two to senior Cameron Griffin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    SUBURBAN XII NORTH<\/strong> plays non-conference\nthis weekend with five teams playing against Suburban West National teams.\nFriday at 7 p.m. 3-3 Hazelwood East heads to Arnold to play 4-2 Fox. 5-1\nHazelwood West heads to Cedar Hill to play 4-2 Northwest. In addition, 5-1\nMcCluer North visits 1-5 Oakville. Saturday at 12 noon 4-2 McCluer hosts 2-4\nImperial-Seckman and 1-5 Hazelwood Central hosts former Suburban North rival\nRitenour while at 1 p.m. 0-6 Riverview Gardens hosts 3-3 Mehlville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conference play\nresumes Oct. 19 at 1 p.m. when Hazelwood West hosts McCluer North, both 3-0,\nHazelwood Central hosts Riverview Gardens, both 0-3, and 2-1 Hazelwood East\nhosts 1-2 McCluer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

   HAZELWOOD WEST, McCLUER NORTH<\/strong> used the passing game\nto demolish Riverview Gardens. Hazelwood West senior Darius Cooper threw four\ntouchdown passes in a 43-8 road win while Jason Easely McCluer North to a 60-12\nhome win passing for five touchdowns. Cooper led the Wildcats to a 26-14 win at\nMcCluer by rushing for four touchdowns and passing for another while McCluer\nNorth senior Travon Springfield ran for three touchdowns as the Stars won at\nhome 32-14 over Hazelwood East.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    HAZELWOOD EAST, McCLUER<\/strong> each won a game the\nlast two weeks over Hazelwood Central. Hazelwood East sophomore Armon Hill,\nwith two rushing touchdowns, led the Spartans to a 28-19 home win while McCluer\nsenior Kameron Cole ran for two touchdowns in a 30-22 Comet road victory.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
