\"seal\"<\/a>While the City of Alton is mounting a heroic effort to get flood-damaged Liberty Bank Amphitheater ready, the fireworks display will go on. Whether the Amphitheater is ready and open or not, there are many good viewing places and parties, some free, nearby. The Alton Visitors Center can provide information on alternative viewing spots and also parking areas. The Argosy lot on Henry Street will be restricted because the fireworks will be shot off from the Illinois side of the river this year. The Alton Visitors\u2019 Center can recommend several alternate locations for viewing and parking, which will be updated if the Amphitheater is ready in time to accommodate visitors.<\/p>\n

Amphitheater Flooding Damage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The damage left behind at the Alton Amphitheater and adjacent Riverfront Park prompted the cancellation of the June 29 BBQ, Bikes & Blues event and postponed the June 30 International SUNday activity at the Amphitheater.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven though the floodwaters have mostly receded, the Amphitheater grounds require significant cleanup. More than $50,000 in damage has been identified with that number likely to increase,\u201d Robert Stephan, Amphitheater Commission Chairman said.<\/p>\n

The Fireworks on July 3 will go off as planned at 9:30 p.m., but will be moved to the old Great Central lot if the Amphitheater is not ready. As a result, there will be restricted parking in the Argosy lot on Henry Street.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will work hard over the coming weeks and have the Amphitheater in great condition for the Food Truck Festival, Jazz and Wine Festival, Alton Expo and Nelly concert,\u201d Stephan noted.<\/p>\n

Historic flooding along the Mississippi River inundated the riverfront, home to the iconic outdoor amphitheater. The Steve Miller and Marty Stuart Concert held June 21 was relocated to the Alton Square parking lot due to flooding issues.<\/p>\n
