Tai Chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention classes will be held every Monday and Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at the Florissant Senior Dining Center, located at 621 St. Francois, beginning March 11 through April 29. The cost is $60 for 15 sessions.<\/p>\n

One in three adults age 65 years or older fall each year. A growing number of older adults have a fear of falling, and this fear limits their activities, social engagements and physical activity. As a result, older adults may experience reduced mobility, depression, social isolation, feelings of helplessness and loss of functional fitness, which increases actual risk of falling.<\/p>\n

Tai chi for Arthritis for Fall Prevention is evidence-based, and according to medical studies, has been proven to enhance the health of older adults. The Hazelwood School District Board of Education would like to engage the entire community during the second phase of exploring a possible redistricting. The District will host its last open house\/gallery walk on Tuesday, March 12<\/strong> from 5-6:30 p.m. at Hazelwood East High School library, 11300 Dunn Rd., to allow residents an opportunity to view the mapping options prepared by consultants. Soroptimists Host Black Light<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Soroptimist International of Greater St. Louis, a volunteer organization for business and professional women, announced its first Black Light Bingo fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, March 16 and is looking for participants and sponsors. Sponsorship levels are Table $100, Round $200, Bar $750 and Event $1,000.<\/p>\n

The cost to play is $35 per person and includes 10 rounds of bingo, beer, wine and soda. Additional bingo cards will be available for purchase along with raffle basket and 50\/50 tickets. 50th Annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade Downtown March 16<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 50th annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade will take place on Saturday, March 16, at 12 noon in downtown St. Louis. The parade always takes place \u201crain or shine.\u201d The parade begins at noon at Aloe Plaza (20th and Market) and then travels east on Market, to its conclusion at Broadway and Clark.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s parade chairman is Vince Via and the parade director is Shawn Milligan.<\/p>\n

Regularly noted as one of the top in the country, the parade is comprised of over 120 units, including marching bands, floats, huge cartoon-character balloons, 5000+ marchers, and lots of clowns. Over 250,000 spectators regularly attend, the largest of any event in downtown St. Louis, packing the streets with smiling Irish eyes and festive green attire.<\/p>\n

The Hiberninan St Patrick’s Day Parade is always held on March 17 – St Patrick’s Day and starts at Tamm & Oakland and ends at Tamm & Manchester. The new start time is 11 a.m.<\/p>\n

The 2019 grand marshall is Bob McCulloch.<\/p>\n

Coolers and backpacks will not be allowed in the parade route and festival. There are increased security and traffic controls in place for the 2019 Parade. The Bi-State buses are re-routed in the region during the parade as well. All outdoor events and sales close at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

Cell phones don’t work at the parade \/ festival – text messages can even take an hour (the exception may be AT&T who is setting up a drone depolyed tower) – so be sure to select meetup areas with others.<\/p>\n

See the world famous Budweiser Clydesdales parade down Tamm Avenue on March 17 during annual St. Patrick\u2019s Day Hibernian Parade and Dogtown Irish Festival. The Ancient Order of Hibernians has sponsored this parade since 1984 – it is always held on St Patrick\u2019s Day. The parade is a family oriented tradition of honoring St. Patrick.<\/p>\n
