After 12-0 Start, Trinity Boys Basketball <\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Faces Challenging Season In 2019<\/span><\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Trinity Catholic Boys Basketball is unbeaten through the first 12 games however, 2019 presents challenges to the Titans and their hopes for an unbeaten season. It begins Friday, Jan. 11 with a 7 p.m. game against Chaminade, a two-time state champion that, currently, has a 7-5 overall record and plays in the always-tough Metro Catholic Conference. Following that, the Titans head to Illinois to play in a tournament at Belleville East, usually the largest enrolled high school in the St. Louis area (2,474 according to the Illinois High School Association). After playing in Belleville Trinity returns home Jan. 22 to face a McCluer North team that took a 10-1 record, which included a nine-game winning start, to the Kirkwood-Denver Miller Tournament (see related story) Jan 8-11.
\nTrinity also plays a game in Chicago, the Orr Cancer event on Jan.26. In addition (before playing in Class Three, District Seven at North Technical) the Titans visit St. Louis Public High League powerhouse (and 2017 Class Four State Champion) Vashon Feb. 9 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

MICDS TOURANMENT REPEAT — Trinity won their second straight Mary Institute Country Day School Holiday Tournament. The Titans defeated St. Louis-based Miller Career Academy 88-55, St. Charles High, 64-50, Lake St. Louis-based Liberty 72-61, and Weldon Spring-based Francis Howell 72-61.
\nIt is the second tournament win of the season. Trinity won at St. John Vianney defeating University City 65-55, Whitfield 71-55 and 2017 champion Hazelwood Central 58-57.<\/p>\n

KALKBRENNER TRIPLE-DOUBLES DuBOURG — Junior seven-footer Ryan Kalkbrenner scored a rare triple double Jan. 4 in a Trinity 70-42 Archdiocesan Athletic Association B Division win at Bishop DuBourg. According to Prepcasts Kalkbrenner scored 17 points, pulled down 12 rebounds and blocked 11 shots.<\/p>\n

HALFWAY THROUGH AAA-B — Trinity is 4-0 in AAA Small Division play with wins over DuBourg, Duchesne (73-55), Lutheran-St. Charles County (87-40) and O\u2019Fallon Christian. The Titans also have a 63-44 non-conference win over visiting St. Louis University High. Trinity visits Lutheran-St. Charles County Feb. 1, and O\u2019Fallon Christian Feb. 4 while hosting Duchesne Feb. 6 and DuBourg Feb 8. The Titans host non-conference games against Brentwood Jan. 23 and Riverview Gardens Jan. 29.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
