I wouldn\u2019t call the last Dining Divas restaurant forgettable. The night was enjoyable as it usually is, and the food was good. But it took me awhile to remember where we went when I was recently asked.\u00a0\u00a0 I\u2019d like to blame it on daylight savings, but maybe it\u2019s because I hit that half century mark.<\/p>\n

When we pulled into Sister Cities Cajun on South Broadway near the Brewery, it was getting dark already. I\u2019m not a fan of that. Shorter days and lazier nights. Why is it that I\u2019d prefer to get on my couch and chill rather than go out? I refuse to believe it\u2019s that half century thing again but instead will again blame daylight savings.<\/p>\n

The restaurant is in a three-story brick building and was empty except for us and another table. However, I hadn\u2019t noticed the private party in a separate area off the main dining area. And as the night progressed, more people came to dine and drink. Thank goodness. I worried that I had chosen a dud for the Divas.<\/p>\n

Apparently, Sister Cities relocated from the Dutchtown area to the Marine Villa neighborhood in the past year. Claiming sisterhood with New Orleans and the Mississippi River that created them, Sister Cities focuses on quality country Cajun. But they also have bar-be-cue.<\/p>\n

We started off sharing the Bayou Nachos which were made with homemade chips, beans, chicken, pork, and a garlic dressing, and what a good choice it was! Their Cajun Smoked Wings were award winning and deserved all the praise they get. According to the Diva who doesn\u2019t care for wings, they were delicious.<\/p>\n

At first when you order the Tacos, you may think it won\u2019t be enough food. But they\u2019re plentiful and wonderful. I was glad to see someone order a Po\u2019 Boy. You go to a Cajun restaurant, someone has to order a Po\u2019 Boy.\u00a0\u00a0 The New-To-Cajun Diva tried it and really enjoyed it. You can get Po\u2019 Boys with catfish or shrimp or fried chicken. As well as a Cuban or bar-be-cue.<\/p>\n

The Creole Pasta with shrimp, chicken, and andouille sausage had just the right amount of kick to it, and the Divas that shared it really liked it, more than they did the Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya, which was bland compared to the delicious pasta.<\/p>\n

Typically, we\u2019d check out the dessert menu, but to my surprise, the Considerate Diva baked and decorated cupcakes in celebration of my birthday. What a treat! I\u2019m not sure what\u2019s on the dessert menu at Sister Cities Cajun, but I\u2019m certain these should be.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m also certain if the sun hadn\u2019t set already, I would have remembered Sister Cities Cajun when recently asked. And I\u2019m certain the memories we make each month go beyond the food and the restaurants. Unfortunately, I just have to be reminded of them more often than not. And I\u2019m certain that\u2019s the sun\u2019s fault too.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
