Nov. 16 ‘Talking Transit\u2019 Focuses on MetroLink Security Practices<\/span><\/em><\/h2>\n

\"metrolink<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Area residents are encouraged to attend a special \u201cTalking Transit\u201d event highlighting transit systems\u2019 security best practices used in several major metropolitan cities. Representatives of other public transit systems will share insights on their security programs and on the issues surrounding St. Louis\u2019 public transit system. \u2018Talking Transit\u2019 is sponsored by the Citizens for Modern Transit (CMT), the St. Louis Regional Chamber, and East-West Gateway Council of Governments.<\/p>\n

The panel discussion includes Lurae Stuart, project manager of WSP USA, Inc., an engineering firm, which is leading the MetroLink Security Assessment, and representative of transit systems in Portland, Ore.; Sacramento, Calif.; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minn., and Washington, D.C. Stuart and the panel will focus on St. Louis MetroLink\u2019s ongoing security and safety issues.<\/p>\n

According to Kim Cella, executive director of Citizens for Modern Transit. \u201cTransit safety and security remains a key priority for the region. We are looking forward to this discussion and the opportunity to learn more about the successes of other systems in hopes of finding workable solutions to take into consideration in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

\"CMT<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018Talking Transit\u2019 is Friday, Nov. 16, at 8:30 a.m. at the St. Louis Regional Chamber Collaboration Center, located at One Metropolitan Square, Ste. 1300, in downtown St. Louis, Mo., which is accessible via the MetroLink or MetroBus. Registration for the Talking Transit event can be completed online at https:\/\/cmt-stl.org\/ or by arriving early to the event. The cost is free for CMT members and $10 for non-members.<\/p>\n

For non-members who would like to attend but have personal financial constraints, CMT offers a limited number of scholarships for each of the Talking Transit events.
