Council Will Vote on <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

Day Care Center in Near Future, <\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

Once again, the council opened a public hearing for Grace & Mercy Adult Program at this week\u2019s meeting. The public hearing has been opened and postponed several times.<\/p>\n

The adult daycare program would be located at 11 Patterson Plaza Shopping Center. The site is currently Metropolitan Events Banquet Center. The event center has had complaints from nearby residents for noise and fighting, and police have been called for incidents there.<\/p>\n

Juanita Gullet spoke for the adult day care. She and the council discussed many of the same items they discussed at the last meeting, including the problems with the banquet center.<\/p>\n

Some council members also expressed concerns about the adult day care. It will have three unisex bathrooms, which Councilman Joe Eagan said was not enough. The council closed the public hearing and will decide whether to vote on the issue at a future meeting.<\/p>\n

The council also held a public hearing about a request to amend a special use permit for MAG Automotive to expand the facility at 8431 N. Lindbergh. Mark Gillette spoke for MAG Automotive. The shop is in Eagan\u2019s ward. \u201cHis operation has not impacted any of the residents in my ward negatively,\u201d he said. He said he did not have any problems with the proposal.<\/p>\n

Gillette said he would like to put in a larger waiting room. He will also have twelve more spots in the building to work on cars. The hours will remain the same, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday thought Saturday. The council held a first reading on the ordinance that would approve the change.<\/p>\n

The council also gave a certificate of application on Norman Currington for his work with the Neighborhood Watch.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve made this thing move forward,\u201d Police Chief Tim Lowery said. \u201cI can\u2019t thank you enough for what you\u2019ve done for that program.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a great pleasure working with the Florissant police department,\u201d Currington said. \u201cThe real effort, the real work has been done by the block captains as well as the neighborhood watch members themselves who provide the eyes and ears for the police department.\u201d<\/p>\n

In other action, the council:<\/span><\/h3>\n
    \n
  • Passed two ordinances moving money from one city account to another to cover expenses for the rest of the fiscal year.<\/li>\n
  • Passed an ordinance authorizing the transfer of a special use permit from Hertz Car Sales to Top Gear Auto for the operation of a used author sales business at 1285 N. Hwy 67.<\/li>\n
  • Approved a special request for a transfer of a special use permit from Domino\u2019s Pizza to Busloop Burgers for the operation of a carry-out restaurant at 8442 N. Lindbergh. Busloop Burgers is currently located on the St. Charles Rock Road in St. Ann.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
