Builder Lowell Girardier<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h1>\n

Lowell Girardier Plaque Dedication<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Old Town Partners unveiled a plaque in honor of the late Lowell Girardier who was a key community volunteer and builder. This will be the 35th Walk through History plaque in honor of someone who has made a valuable contribution to the City of Florissant. The ceremony was held on Wednesday, Aug. 29 on rue St. Francois just west of St. Charles Street on the north-side before the Old St. Ferdinand Shrine entrance.<\/p>\n

Lowell Girardier founded Girardier Building & Realty contracting in 1955 and built many Florissant homes, churches, schools, stores, and offices. After developing the property in Old Town located at Boone St. and St. Catherine, he wanted to preserve the 1860\u2019s French farmhouse and donated it to Old Town Partners. The farmhouse was moved to 601 Rue St. Charles and is the current office for Old Town Partners and Valley of Flowers.<\/p>\n

Lowell was a co-founder of the DePaul Foundation, was on the SSM DePaul Health Center advisory board, past-president of the Florissant Rotary Club and in 1992 he was named by the Greater North County of Chamber as Business Person of the Year, Lowell also received the Rosary High Ambassador\u2019s Award. He served as director of Marygrove, Florissant Valley Shelter Workshop, Emerson Electric and YMCA.<\/p>\n

He served as president of North County Incorporated and also received the NCI Elmer Belsha Leadership Award for lifetime community service. Lowell and his wife Beverly exemplified pride in North County through volunteerism helping many organizations succeed.<\/p>\n

Following the plaque dedication the fourth Wednesday Night Out (WNO) was hosted by Stems Florist, Bunkers Tavern, Kay Bee Electric, State Farm Insurance, Old Town Partners and That 90’s Shop. The theme was \u201cDancing in the Streets – Totally Awesome 80s & 90s Party\u201d between 201- 302 rue St. Francois (Stems Florist to That 90s Shop).<\/p>\n
