Revamped <\/strong>South City Restaurant<\/span><\/em><\/h1>\n

Getting to our latest Dining Divas restaurant was quite the adventure, even though it was only on the south side of the city. First, the Carpool Diva\u2019s more direct route took us through areas that I would never consider driving except in broad daylight; yet, she confidently and happily navigated us through the city.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Then, once we were south of downtown, we ventured through the Carondelet Park area and the Holly Hills neighborhood and enjoyed the beautiful homes and reminiscing about growing up nearby. After passing by the reopened Bevo Mill now called Das Bevo, we arrived (safely) at Lemmons by Grbic restaurant, an American restaurant with a Balkan flare, as they say.<\/p>\n

The Carpool Diva was excited to eat Lemmons\u2019 fried chicken, being familiar with the area, she\u2019d tried it before. But this was a different Lemmons. A next generation Lemmons as the original owners (the Grbic\u2019s) passed it on to their children, and they revamped it.\u00a0\u00a0 This intriguing neighborhood place had unique touches and a cool atmosphere. It\u2019s a fun place to grab a drink with friends and have some appetizers. Like the Panko Crusted Crab Cakes. A plentiful dish of four large crab cakes was more than enough for our table to share.<\/p>\n

The Picky Diva typically passes when it comes to chicken wings, but the Smoked Chicken Wing appetizer was delicious, and she\u2019s glad she ordered them. The Chip Twister Fry consisted of a spiraled potato with Parmesan and pepper and a dipping sauce. This unique twist on the average plate of French fries surprised us all.<\/p>\n

The Weight Watching Diva had a taste of a couple appetizers but stuck with a healthy choice of the King\u2019s Kabob. The chicken was very satisfying, and she didn\u2019t leave feeling guilty. We all busted out laughing when we saw the expression on the Opinionated Diva\u2019s face when her bowl-less salad showed up. She couldn\u2019t understand the concept, but she was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. And we were surprised that she liked what she ate because typically these types of restaurants are too different for her liking.<\/p>\n

The Amateur Diva enjoyed the Chicken Flatbread with peppers and onions, but the \u201cI Don\u2019t Know How to Read the Menu\u201d Diva wasn\u2019t a fan of it because she\u2019s not a fan of peppers and onions! The Newlywed Diva had Lemmons Chicken. which isn\u2019t the old Lemmons Chicken. This is \u201cHeard You Were Talkin\u2019 Schnitzel\u201d chicken. Served with carrot mash, she thought it was a tasty combination.<\/p>\n

It was great having the Newlywed Diva back with us as we hadn\u2019t seen her since before she got married. And we were missing a couple of Traveling Divas, as well as a Recovering Diva. But what a great night in the neighborhood with the girls.<\/p>\n

And the adventure continued on our way home. The Carpool Diva once again took the direct route home. The same route I said I would not do in the dark. The flashing lights of police cars and the people in the streets were of no concern of hers as she contently drove along with a smile on her face. Of course, I wasn\u2019t smiling when I got out my phone to video everything that was happening on the streets. I needed evidence\u2026just in case…And to record where not to go next time. And perhaps . . . to drive myself.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
