The city of Hazelwood has extended its Spring Limb Chipping Program for another two weeks until June 19 to assist local residents in clearing yard debris caused by recent storms, announced Tom Manning, Hazelwood\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s director of public works.<\/p>\n
Residents interested in getting rid of large limbs laying in their yard are being asked to
\nbring them to the curb and then contact the Street Maintenance Department to have them
\npicked up. For those with yard waste service provided by Veolia Environmental
\nServices, limbs up to four-feet in length and two inches or less in diameter can be
\ndisposed of during regular trash and recycling pick-ups. They must be bundled together
\nin 18-inch bundles before they can be taken.<\/p>\n
\u00e2\u20ac\u0153The city of Hazelwood has offered this annual Spring Limb Chipping Program to
\nresidents for close to 20 years,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d said Manning. \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Less than a dozen local municipalities
\nhave a program of this nature. This can be attributed to the fact that since 1986,
\nHazelwood has ranked among the top cities in the Greater St. Louis area for its assessed
\nvaluation. Residents and businesses pay one of the lowest property tax rates in St. Louis
\nCounty. We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re proud of our low tax rate, particularly in comparison to the level of
\nservices we provide for Hazelwood residents.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d<\/p>\n
