The bottom photo is an aerial shot of rue St. Francois and the Bank of America building and parking lot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h2><em>Condos, apartments, retail among plans<\/em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<h3><strong>By Bob Lindsey\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Drawings and photos were presented at an informational meeting by Savoy Properties last week on a proposed project to build apartments, condos and retail on the property of the former Bank of America location in Old Town Florissant.<\/p>\n<p>Invited residents and business owners packed a public meeting on Jan. 16 at the Old Town Wedding Chapel, 646 St. Francois St., regarding this proposed project. Two slightly different plans were presented in two drawings. The one above is the most current plan from Savoy Properties.<\/p>\n<p>Old Town Partners was contacted by the City of Florissant and Savoy Properties on this proposal which includes the 800-900 block of St. Francois where the Bank of America building and drive through exists and the parking lot across from City Hall.<\/p>\n<p>This was the first informal meeting to communicate some of the ideas that are being proposed which has received some positive feedback.\u00a0 Savoy Properties representatives, city officials, all but one Florissant council member (Joe Eagan was at work), and others were in attendance on Jan. 16. This was a preliminary meeting before any formal plan can be presented to city officials.<\/p>\n<p>John Pennington was one of three persons from Savoy who spoke and presented the specific options. In an interview Tuesday, he stressed the favorable response he received from local officials and members of the audience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnytime you get a hybrid of people from the community, business, residents and city government with a connection like this\u2026.it\u2019s a positive thing,\u201d Pennington said. He stressed that will this type of local leadership and the history of Florissant, Savoy Properties and the community can study and \u201ccalculate the financial feasibility and need\u201d for this project in Old Town Florissant.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am excited that there are investors who are interested in building in the Old Town area and look forward to assisting Savoy Properties or any other developer to revive historic Florissant,\u201d said Old Town Partners president Christine Keil.<\/p>\n<p>There were no immediate announcements as to the next step for the project.<\/p>\n<p>Savoy Property\u2019s website list its properties from throughout the metro area and includes the bank building at 1281 Graham Road and the strip center at 525 rue St. Francois which has the Florissant Old Town Marketplace and Village of the Blue Rose as tenants.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Condos, apartments, retail among plans By Bob Lindsey\u00a0\u00a0 Drawings and photos were presented at an informational meeting by Savoy Properties last week on a proposed project to build apartments, condos and retail on the property of the former Bank of America location in Old Town Florissant.
