No. Carolina Fraud Charges Dropped<\/h1>\n

\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The Ferguson-Florissant School District (FFSD) Board of Education has announced the return of Superintendent Joseph Davis, from his requested leave of absence. On Monday, Oct. 9, the board received word from Dr. Davis\u2019 attorney in North Carolina that a dismissal of all charges has been filed.<\/p>\n

Board of Education President Rob Chabot<\/p>\n

reaffirmed the board\u2019s commitment to Davis and district students. \u201cThe board is pleased the matter has been resolved. We are confident in Dr. Davis\u2019 leadership and his focus on providing a great education for our students. We look forward to putting this incident behind us, and hope our community will join us in focusing on the future for the sake of our students.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis\u2019 attorney Watsi Sutton said her client<\/p>\n

was innocent of any \u201cwillful act or criminal wrongdoing\u201d of using the Washington County Schools\u2019 American Express card to reserve a hotel room and rental car through Priceline.<\/p>\n

Ms. Sutton states that, \u201cIntending to use<\/p>\n

his own American Express card, Dr. Davis innocently selected the wrong four-digit card number. Once selected, the additional information necessary to complete the transactions were auto-filled from Dr. Davis\u2019s stored customer and payment profile information as confirmed by PriceLine.com.\u201d This type of honest mistake is said by PriceLine.com\u2019s fraud specialists to occur often across online merchants with a customer simply selecting the wrong card from among various cards stored in the customer\u2019s online profile, according to Ms. Sutton. \u201cMy investigation confirms this is what happened in Dr. Davis\u2019s case.\u201d<\/p>\n

Superintendent Davis received a very warm welcome at a press conference on Tuesday and told the gathering \u201cI am grateful for this day and grateful to God, my wife, son and family, and to many of you who have supported me through this ordeal. I want to publicly acknowledge the Ferguson Florissant School Board and each member, Rob Chabot, Dr. Courtney Graves, Dr. Donna Thurman, Leslie Hogshead, Scott Ebert, Connie Harge and Jessica Ponder for the thoughtful approach they have taken during this enter process. While they have been super supportive of me, they have kept the focus on what is best for the children in this district, my son included. I also want to thank Attorney Paul D\u2019Agrosa and Attorney Cindy Ormsby and the mayors and other elected officials, parents, administrators and many others who are here today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis returned from leave immediately and said he<\/p>\n
