Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. has announced that the City of Florissant will receive yet another sanitary sewer repair project funded by the Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD). <\/p>\n
The Old Town Sewer Rehabilitation Project – Phase II consists of the rehabilitation of approximately 25,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer pipe, varying in size from 8 to 12 inches. <\/p>\n
This project within the City of Florissant is bounded by Rue St. Charles, St. Michael Street, Aubuchon Street, and St. Marie Street.<\/p>\n
There are now twenty one sanitary and storm sewer relief projects in either the planning, design, or construction stages scheduled for 2009. Mayor Lowery has worked hard with representatives of MSD to bring more projects into the City every year. Lowery stated “the amount of watershed area dollars collected by the District will have the greatest return ever this year.” The contract amount for the Old Town Sewer Rehabilitation Project – Phase II is $3,000,000.00. <\/p>\n
MSD has contracted with Insituform Technologies to perform repairs on these sanitary sewers. Starting in early May of this year crews will be working on this project which is expected to last until September of 2009. <\/p>\n
Appropriate notice will be given to residents with the specific date and time of construction in front of their property. The majority of this work will require no excavation to repair the sewer pipelines. A cured in place pipe liner is positioned inside the existing mainline pipe and inflated to conform to the existing pipe. Once the liner has cured, a robot is inserted into the pipeline to cut the residential service connections back open. <\/p>\n
The Public Works Department, Engineering Division, is responsible for assuring the quality of storm and sanitary sewer relief projects through design and construction. <\/p>\n
