\u201cWe\u2019ve driven four hours out of town to find a place like this,\u201c said the Prodigal Diva. \u201cHow did we not know there was a place like this practically in our own backyard?\u201d That\u2019s how we felt with this month\u2019s Dining Divas restaurant choice, Hobos, and Old Town St. Peters.<\/p>\n

This part of town is not a hidden gem because you can see it right off I-70 at Mid-Rivers Mall, a location I drive by practically every summer weekend on my way to the Lake. It\u2019s not like I\u2019d never heard of Old Town St. Peters before, because I had plenty of times. I just never ventured to turn there at the QuikTrip.\u00a0\u00a0 I didn\u2019t know it was back there.<\/p>\n

And honestly, when it was suggested to try out Hobos, I wasn\u2019t sure that dinner in an American Legion post home was Dining Diva-worthy. I was slightly concerned the girls would give me trouble for picking it, and that participation would be minimal. But we had a large group that night, and Hobos is a restaurant located at the American Legion was well worth it.<\/p>\n

We waited an hour for a table, and it was worth the wait. They don\u2019t take reservations. It was a Thursday night, and it was packed. We noticed that by 7:30 or 8 , the crowd wasn\u2019t so big, so if you plan to go, don\u2019t plan to go for an early dinner.<\/p>\n

While we waited, we sat (and stood) in the bar area and were able to check out what other customers were ordering. The Assertive Diva got the recommendations from a few. The chicken. The catfish. The chicken. The pizza. The chicken. The wings. And of course, the chicken.<\/p>\n

So after an hour of hanging around the bar, enjoying libations and catching up with everyone, we finally got a table. It seemed like all the waitresses were very good at their jobs and were very straightforward in letting you know when they were ready for you.<\/p>\n

They were definitely in control of the crowd of customers, and yet they had a wonderful way of not offending you when they held up their hand and said \u201cgive me a minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

The table started off with meaty, delicious Buffalo chicken wings. And as if that wasn\u2019t enough chicken, everyone, except for the Oddball Diva, ordered Hobos Famous Fried Chicken for their meal.\u00a0\u00a0 We could see why it\u2019s so popular. Finger lickin\u2019 good!<\/p>\n

The Oddball Diva enjoyed the BBQ pork steak. It must have been super slow roasted because it was so tender and tasty. Every meal came with two sides so by the time we finished (which most of us didn\u2019t), we were too full to check out the dessert menu. Next time we will.<\/p>\n

The Road-tripping Divas agreed. They\u2019d be heading down Main Street in Old Town St. Peters again real soon. Great atmosphere. Great food. Reasonable prices. And such a better option than a four-hour drive.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
