Michelle Pendelton, kindergarten teacher at Townsend Elementary School, was named the Hazelwood School District Teacher of the Year 2008-09.<\/p>\n

In December, she was named Teacher of the Year for Townsend Elementary School, in honor of the District\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s annual Founders\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Day recognition ceremony. Her students, fellow teachers and colleagues already knew that she was the Teacher of the Year for Townsend, but didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know she was the District winner.<\/p>\n

Pendleton has been with the District for five years. In 2007, she became a kindergarten teacher at Townsend, transferring from Keeven Elementary School. Throughout her career, she has worked for local Head Start programs and St. Louis Public Schools.
