Once again, they had several emails from constituents asking them to repeal the city\u2019s pit bull ban. Several supporters of the repeal of the ban also spoke at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>There was one public hearing scheduled, but Council President Jackie Pagano said that the petitioner had requested a continuance of the hearing. The public hearing concerned a request to rezone property at 8115 N. Lindbergh from one commercial zoning code to another for Lyons Properties, LLC, doing business as Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts would like to build a new building on the site. The council will continue the hearing at a future meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The council passed four bills, all unanimously. In the first bill, they approved deleting a chapter of the city code dealing with criminal offenses and replacing it.<\/p>\n<p>City Attorney John Hessel told the council that the state legislature recently passed a bill that updated state statutes regarding some crimes. \u201cMost cities have tried to mirror the state statues in the interest of uniformity,\u201d he said. He said this would bring Florissant in line with state statutes.<\/p>\n<p>The council passed another bill authorizing the<\/p>\n<p>assignment of 5% of the settlement of the class action suit with TracFone to the Municipal League of Metro St. Louis. Mayor Tom Schneider explained that the Municipal League organized the efforts in the lawsuit. \u201cThe members of the Municipal League have pledged a small portion of the reward to the league for future suits.\u201d He added that working together would be better for the cities in the league.<\/p>\n<p>The council also passed two bills involving city employees.
