Florissant Passes Some Funding Bills<\/h1>\n

The Florissant City Council had a light agenda at Monday\u2019s meeting, with no public hearings scheduled. However, they did spend quite a bit of time in the \u2018hearing from citizens\u2019 portion of the meeting, as several residents and non-residents spoke against the city\u2019s pit bull ban. Several people also sent letters and emails to the council requesting the repeal of the ban.<\/p>\n

The council took action on several bills. They authorized a special use permit to AutoCenters SBC, LLC, doing business as AutoCenters Florissant for the operation of a used car business at 1390-1400 N. Hwy. 67.<\/p>\n

The council also passed a bill that will authorize the appropriation of $45,000 from the General Revenue Fund to cover additional costs for telephones.<\/p>\n

Another bill passed authorizes the transfer of a special use permit from Parson\u2019s Convenience store and gas station at 12785 New Halls Ferry Road, doing business as N. Halls Ferry Pit Stop, to Kolfe LLC, doing business as Exxon for the operation of a convenience store and filling station.<\/p>\n

The council also approved a bill that will approve the movement of $50,000 from the asset forfeiture funds to an account where they will be used for various police department equipment expenditures.<\/p>\n

In the last bill passed, the council authorized an appropriation from the Park Improvement Fun to the Professional Services fund. This is for the geotechnical services to repair the slope and path of the Sunset Greenway Trail near Ruiz Mexican Restaurant.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is for $7,500 dollars,\u201d said Councilman Tim Lee. \u201cThere is a slope problem on the Sunset Greenway Trail near Ruiz.\u201d The trail is maintained by the city and Great Rivers Greenway. \u201cWe have to do the study first,\u201d said Lee. \u201cThen we\u2019ll negotiate with Great Rivers Greenway.\u201d He added that the first step was determining the extent of the problem.<\/p>\n

In other action, the council moved the dates of the September meetings. The Sept. 12 meeting will be moved to Tuesday, Sept. 6. The Sept. 26 meeting will be moved to Tuesday, Sept. 27. The council also approved a request by Theresa Schmitt to keep two chickens at her home on Manresa Lane.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
