O\u2019Mara Loses to Rochelle Walton Gray in<\/h1>\n

2nd<\/sup> District Democratic County Council Race; <\/strong><\/h1>\n

\u00a0\u00a0 State Rep. Primary Winners include Alan Green, Jay Mosley, Gretchen Bangert, Alan Grey, Courtney Curtis<\/h3>\n

A shift in the Council Council Democratic power base occurred Tuesday night when former state representive Rochelle Walton Gray of Black Jack beat 16-year incumbent Mike O\u2019Mara of Florissant who is the current St. Louis County Council chairman. Gray, who will face Republican Curtis Falkner and Libertarian Jeff Coleman on Nov. 8. In unofficial results, Gray beat O\u2019Mara 61% to 39 % in unofficial results in a campaign that lacked personal attack ads by either side.<\/p>\n

It might have been the biggest surprise of all the contestant races in North County. Many of the favorites won the Democratic primaries for state representative. The closest race was in the 73rd<\/sup> District when Courtney Allan Curtis beat four others, but barely took first place with only 59 more votes more than Lee Smith.<\/p>\n
